Passive Smoking Is Really Harmful to Our Health
It is an unarguable fact that moking is really harmful for smoker. But have you heard of such a result that residing with a smoker has been considered a threat to health too. This is also called as passive smoking or second-hand smoking.
Passive smoking, or second-hand smoking means the smoke in the environment that is exhaled from the smoker’s lungs, or the smoke coming from the smoker’s cigarette, pipe or cigar, is being inhaled by others. In simple terms, it is known to be the involuntary breathing of smoke from different tobacco products. This happens when tobacco smoke saturates the environment, and people in the immediate vicinity are inhaling it.
What are the places where you can easily experience passive smoking? Usually, this type of things occurs in public places such as bars and restaurants. Perhaps because many people realize the harmful effects of secondhand smoke, several public areas such as workplaces, restaurants, night clubs, and bars follow smoking bans. However, you can even inhale such smoke in your own homes in the company of chain smokers. This means that we almost have no places to keep away from passive smoking.
However, there are several harmful long term effects of passive smoking. Yes, the unavoidable passive smoking can cause serious problems. For example, for these children who live with parents who are smokers, they tend to suffer from asthma and ear infections and if already asthmatic, smoke can bring on an attack. Of course, the main illnesses associated with smoking are lung cancer and heart disease and it may come as a surprise to learn that breathing in someone else’s smoke can put you at risk of exactly the same health problems.
Now that it is a difficult task for most people to avoid passive smoking, then perhaps a health insurance plan is a necessity if you want to protect yourselves from all unexpected dangers caused by second-hand smoking.
